Taylor Swift did not get a warm welcome from the Super Bowl LIX audience.
The pop superstar was in attendance at the biggest NFL game of the year on Sunday, February 9, cheering on her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, as his team faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles.
In a clip circulating on X (formerly Twitter), fans could be heard loudly booing as the 14-time Grammy Award winner’s face was shown on the jumbo screen at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Swift, 35 looked visibly uncomfortable as she shifted her eyes before smiling and seemingly mouthed, “What’s going on?”
X users took to the video’s comment section to weigh in on the booing, with many fans going to bat for the singer.
“Outta pocket let the girl live goddamn,” one person commented.
“Booing her for something that literally isn’t her fault is strange,” a second fan wrote.
“She did nothing wrong. It’s not like she asked for the cameras to be on her,” a third fan wrote.
Other people agreed with the crowd’s decision to boo the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker.
Somebody commented, “take the hint, Taylor.”
“Is she really so oblivious? The NFL fan base isn’t her fanbase. Why would people cheer for her?” another individual noted.
Someone else wrote, “this might be the best video of all time.”
The “Fortnight” singer and the 35-year-old NFL star have been dating for over a year and continue to show support for each other’s careers. Swift has attended numerous Chiefs games throughout the season.
As for Kelce, he watched his sweetheart perform in different cities during the iconic Eras Tour.
