SPOILERS: This post contains details about the series finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star

Rob Lowe has come off his latest six-year role with an immense respect for firefighters and first responders.

After 9-1-1: Lone Star ended its five-season run last week, the 6x Golden Globe nominee said he wouldn’t rule out reprising the character of Captain Owen Strand in an upcoming spin-off or the Los Angeles-set parent series currently in its eighth season.

“Listen, I never say never to anything, and it’s a character that means a lot to me,” Lowe told People. “I have such respect and admiration for first responders, and it’s an honor whenever I can bring their stories to the screen, so you never know.”

Watch on Deadline

The series finale of the Ryan Murphy-created procedural aired Monday on Fox, seeing Capt. Strand help the 126 save Austin, Texas from an asteroid and a nuclear disaster before bidding farewell to his team and returning to the NYFD.

“I’m really enjoying people’s reaction to it,” said Lowe of the finale. “I think people really appreciated us ending it on a positive note for all the characters that they’ve invested in for the five seasons. And it is very clear that the audience is going to miss the show as much as we’re going to miss doing it.”

Lone Star showrunner Rashad Raisani previously mourned the show’s cancelation in a postmortem interview with Deadline, noting that he hopes the characters will be revived on another show. “The reason why everybody’s alive is, that would be great,” he said.

“There’d be nothing better than to have to revisit these characters in whatever context where they go to one of these cities or whether that city comes to them or LA, whatever it is,” added Raisani.
