Any lingering doubts that Taylor Swift would travel to the 2025 Super Bowl were put to rest on February 7, when the billionaire singer was spotted in New Orleans, on the arm of boyfriend and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. According to a multitude of news outlets, the couple stepped out on Friday night to dine at Lilette, a French restaurant located just blocks from the Mississippi River known for a menu of rich and filling dishes.
It’s not a huge surprise that Swift headed to New Orleans for the Chiefs’ showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles, as Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, claims she’s fully infected with football fever. In an interview Thursday with Australian TV news show Today, Kelce said Swift is “watching football whenever she can.”
Reminiscing about a recent Chiefs game, Kelce said, “It was funny. We’re sitting in the game and the Chiefs were in the in the red zone. And they had… to go for a field goal. And I’m sitting there thinking, ‘I hate field goals.’ And Taylor comes back and says, ‘I’ll take the points.’”
“And I’m thinking, ‘look at you… a year ago you didn’t know a field goal from an extra point, and now you’re doing all this football talk.’ So I think she’s enjoying the game and she’s a very smart young lady.”
However, it’s less expected that Kelce would appear out and about fewer than 48 hours before the Chiefs’ attempt on Sunday February 9 to make history as the first-ever team to win three Super Bowls in a row. According to the NFL’s football operations website, “coaches and players spend the two weeks before the Super Bowl poring over their opponent’s game film and shoring up any areas of concern. Teams keep the same Wednesday through Friday practice schedule to maintain regular-season habits.”
“But now, there are many more distractions,” the organization notes. “Travel, media, logistics, and family and friends asking for tickets can sidetrack players,” which is why they’re typically encouraged to stick close to their lodgings. In the Chiefs’ case, that’s a Marriott near the city’s French Quarter, Hello! reports.
But Friday night, Kelce clearly felt like his areas of concern had been adequately shored up, as did Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who—with wife Brittany Mahomes—joined Kelce and Swift at the dinner date. According to NOLA.com, the foursome dined for “a few hours” in a private room at the restaurant, winding things up at around 10 p.m.
The Chiefs players and their partners weren’t the only boldfaced names at Lilette that night, as actor Jennifer Coolidge and three-time Super Bowl MVP Joe Montana were also spotted at the restaurant, though not with the Kelce/Mahomes/Swift party. Other celebrities who’ve already descended on New Orleans for the Super Bowl include halftime headliner Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B, and fervent Philadelphia Eagles fan/cheesesteak salesman Bradley Cooper.
