Levi’s® headed to Berlin’s INTERVENTION to host an immersive event commemorating its latest Loose Denim collection.
As part of the Berlin Fashion Week programming, Reference Studios held the third edition of its highly anticipated concept INTERVENTION — a multi-disciplinary cultural celebration that brings together local and international creatives under one roof. Located in Kant-Garagen — a historic car park and architectural gem that became a cultural epicenter of West Berlin — the four-floor space invites brands and artists to exhibit their work during the city’s most significant week in its fashion calendar.
Among the presentations was Levi’s®. As you enter the vast space, the heritage denim brand took over the ground floor with a music-inspired installation. The theme, titled “Indigo Note,” is a double entendre that takes inspiration from the Blue Note — an expressive musical note found specifically within jazz and blues — and references denim’s signature blue dye.
As well as showcasing its growing collection of Loose styles — including the growing XL family, the 568 Loose Straight and the new 578 Baggy Jeans — the brand also enlisted New York-based artist Ally Bo for a unique customization space in partnership with Berlin screen printing studio Et Al Press. Employing his signature playful airbrushing techniques, they featured a vibrant color palette referencing Levi’s®’s longstanding denim heritage and indigo hue and allowed visitors to emblazon the various stencil works on the brand’s latest Loose Denim range as well as T-shirts, tops, and jackets to create 1-of-1 pieces through its silkscreen printing service.
As the day drew to a close, attendees were ushered to the main event space where Levi’s® hosted an intimate live performance. The line-up, headlined by London-based saxophonist Nubya Garcia, Mercury Prize-nominated Moses Boyd, and US vocalist Goegira Muldrow, had partygoers vibing to the sounds of jazz to the end of the night.
