A slice of television history is hitting the market: Kris Jenner, momager and matriarch of the Kardashian family, is selling the clan’s longtime family home.
Viewers who have kept up with the lives of Kim, Kylie, Kendall, Kourtney and Khloe (and sometimes Rob) will instantly recognize its iconic foyer with its black-and-white checkered floor; the backyard that hosted their extravagant Christmas parties; and the kitchen table where so many La Scala chopped salads were consumed over more than a decade of episodes of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
The six-bedroom, eight-bath home, which sprawls more than 8,000 square feet and sits on more than an acre of land in the exclusive Los Angeles neighborhood of Hidden Hills, is being listed for $13.5 million.
“I’ve shared so many unforgettable memories in this incredible home with my family, and I’m excited to see it start a new chapter with its next owners,” Ms. Jenner told The New York Times in a statement.
Ms. Jenner bought the home in 2010 with the media personality and retired Olympic athlete Caitlyn Jenner, who was then her husband and known as Bruce Jenner. They needed space: The couple each had four grown children from previous relationships, plus their daughters — Kylie and Kendall — who were teenagers and still living at home.
“Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” which initially focused on the day-to-day drama of the sisters Khloe, Kim and Kourtney, had been on the air since 2007. It was an instant hit, as viewers tuned in to see their family squabbles. As more viewers tuned in, the Kardashians built an entrepreneurial empire, and their surroundings had to match their new status as moguls and media superstars.
Twice the square footage of the home where the family lived during the first few seasons of the show, the new house was camera ready, but Mr. Fridman estimates the family spent millions on custom design touches and renovations.
Film crews captured the Kardashian-Jenners as they added more than a dozen grandchildren to their brood, through weddings, divorces and life changes. Kris and Caitlyn separated in 2013, and Caitlyn Jenner transitioned to a woman.
“This home was an integral part of the show. But it isn’t just a house that was on TV. It’s a home where a family lived their lives, with good times, bad times, kids growing up, and all kinds of evolution,” said Tomer Fridman, a longtime real estate agent for the family, who is representing Ms. Jenner in the sale. Mr. Fridman is a broker with Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California.
Like the Kardashian women themselves, the house is filled with upgrades: Past its grand entry foyer, with soaring ceilings and a black iron imperial staircase, the monochrome kitchen is outfitted with a black La Cornue French range and a butler’s pantry with touches like a personal frozen yogurt machine. Devoted viewers of the show will recognize the refrigerators with glass doors that show the carefully organized contents inside.
Each of the six bedrooms, including the teenage bedrooms where Kendall and Kylie once did homework after school, has an en suite bath. Kylie briefly held the title of the youngest self-made billionaire in the world when she was 21, and Kendall is now one of the highest-paid supermodels on the planet. The bedrooms also have custom closets, including the space that Kris Jenner created exclusively to house her collection of Birkin bags.
Every fireplace in the house was sourced from Exquisite Surfaces, an ultraluxury Los Angeles company that restores centuries-old, hand-carved stone, tile and clay pieces from Europe.
Outside, next to the swimming pool and firepit, an arbor offers a space for outdoor eating and layers of carefully manicured hedges and plants provide both privacy and shade.
The Jenners finalized their divorce in 2015, and the same year, Ms. Jenner transferred the home to a family trust. Several of her children have lived there for stints, including Rob, who posted many photos of himself and his daughter, Dream, 8, in the house over the years.
“This home has been their anchor,” Mr. Fridman said.
But no one is currently living in the property, and Ms. Jenner, who along with her children owns an extensive real estate portfolio, said it is time to move on.
For an additional price tag of around $400,000, the home can be purchased furnished — but buyers shouldn’t expect access to Ms. Jenner’s favorite chair.
Before listing the home, Ms. Jenner brought in celebrity designer Ryan Saghian, a task that required “reimagining one of the most recognizable homes in pop culture,” Mr. Saghian said in a text message. He replaced nearly all the furniture with pieces from the European luxury wholesaler Eichholtz and brought in new bespoke artwork and several custom chandeliers.
The home, he said, is now “ready for its next chapter.”
