Craig Conover confesses that he bought an engagement ring for Paige DeSorbo prior to their breakup in the mid-season trailer for “Southern Charm.”
After Conover and DeSorbo ended their relationship in November 2024, Bravo picked up the cameras to film an emotional conversation between Conover, Austen Kroll and Shep Rose.
“She asked me to buy her a ring, and I did,” Conover tells Kroll and Rose.
Meanwhile, the trailer then cuts to a voiceover of Conover, 36, telling producers before the split, “I’m gonna propose.”
“It was just over,” Conover also confides in his friends. “It’s weird to mourn someone that’s still alive.”
Before Conover meets up with his buddies, they each admit to each other that they knew there were issues in Conover and DeSorbo’s relationship.
“There were cracks,” Kroll tells Rose.
Rose replies back to Kroll, “It doesn’t sound like he was driving this bus.”
DeSorbo, 32, announced in late December that she and Conover had broken up after three years together.
Shortly after sharing the news, the “Summer House” star denied rumors that she “ruined” a proposal from Conover.
“I’m obsessed with all of this fan fiction,” DeSorbo commented under a TikTok video discussing the theory on Jan. 2.
She later vehemently denied cheating on Conover after fans began spreading “baseless” rumors.
“I never, in the three years that I dated my ex-boyfriend, I never physically cheated on him, emotionally cheated on him,” she clarified during Monday’s episode of “Giggly Squad.”
The podcast host claimed that she initially asked Conover to shut down the speculation, but he did not publicly do so.
DeSorbo further revealed that they broke up over Thanksgiving weekend in late November, but she let him process the news for a month.
“Craig then went on and did press for ‘Southern Charm,’ did whatever he needed to do, acting as if we were still together,” she explained. “And that was fine. I said that he could do that. He was processing in his own way.”
Meanwhile, Conover only addressed the breakup once in an Instagram Story posted Jan. 7.
“This has all been very, very unexpected to say the least. But I guess life has to … I gotta start living again, whatever that looks like, whatever my new normal looks like, I have to start,” he said in a video at the time.
The Sewing Down South founder said he was “very shocked” by the split, which occurred “right before the holidays.”
“It takes two people to be in a relationship, and you can’t control other people. You can only control how you react to it,” he said.
“Southern Charm” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.
