Vaarnii, the Finnish design house dedicated to raw materials, collaborates with British designer John Tree to introduce the Hoop Table Lamp — a minimalist yet precisely engineered lighting piece embodying raw elegance.
Crafted in Finland from solid pine and high-quality pine veneer, the lamp features a sturdy base for stability and a delicately curved veneer shade that filters light warmly.
Pine takes center stage in this design. The solid base discreetly houses electrical components, while the veneer shade’s striking grain pattern adds delicacy. The two components slot together seamlessly.
Though simple in appearance, the Hoop Table Lamp reflects meticulous refinement. “Simplicity is hard to achieve,” says Tree. “Removing elements is much more difficult than adding them.” Creating the unsupported veneer shade required balancing lightness with structural integrity.
Available in two sizes – Large Hoop for desktops and sideboards and Small Hoop for shelves and side tables – it integrates effortlessly into various spaces. Even when switched off, it remains an engaging sculptural object, reinforcing Tree’s philosophy that lighting should be visually appealing in all states.
The Hoop Table Lamps are now available on Vaarnii’s webstore.
