After releasing the Hurry Up Tomorrow album on Friday, January 31, The Weeknd has unveiled the first official trailer for the album’s companion film of the same time.

Directed by Trey Edward Shults of Waves and It Comes At Night, Hurry Up Tomorrow is billed as a “psychological thriller” film and stars The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) himself alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. All three of the main characters star in the

The film’s official synopsis reads: “A musician plagued by insomnia is pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.”

We get a glimpse of this unraveling in the just-over two-minute trailer, as clips of an unnerved Tesfaye flash across the screen while an off-screen voice delivers “death is nothing at all. It does not count. Everything remains exactly how it was.”

“Stop self-doubting. You’re fucking invincible,” Keoghan tells Tesfaye as he cries on the floor.

Footage of Tesfaye on-stage performing and off-stage partying and acting recklessly alternate, with Ortega introduced as what appears to be his love interest.

Take a closer look at some first-look photos in the gallery above and expect the film to release in theaters on May 16.
