It may have felt like A Complete Unknown as to why Chloe Fineman didn’t reprise her Timothée Chalamet impression during his recent Saturday Night Live hosting stint. However, the comedian has since offered up an explanation.
During a Jan. 29 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, a fan asked Fineman whether it was a “conscious decision” to nix her impression of Chalamet, which Fineman said she has already “done twice this year without him” there: Once for the show’s “Port Authority Duane Reade” sketch in November 2024 and again for the “A Complete Unknown Red Carpet” sketch in December 2024.
“And I really feel like I’m leaning more, like, L Word,” she explained. “I dunno. I’m a lot older than him. I just feel like I’m this cool les lady.”
She elaborated on her reasoning, saying she thought that “now that [they] know each other, it’s sort of embarrassing.”
“I feel like this weird older woman, being like, âHey little boy, can I put your sweatpants on?’” she teased, highlighting that she has “sometimes” actually donned Chalamet’s “real clothes” to impersonate him.
While WWHL host Andy Cohen noted that it would have been on Fineman to pitch the idea ahead of time, she revealed that she “pitched a lot” of a material in which they would be “touching” during Chalamet’s Jan. 25 hosting gig.
“Or like Babygirl and heâs giving me milk,” she continued. “He wasn’t really having that.”

Chalamet served as both host and musical guest on the Jan. 25 episode of SNL, singing Bob Dylan‘s “Outlaw Blues,” “Three Angels” and “Tomorrow Is a Long Time,” in light of his Oscar-nominated turn as the legendary artist.
As for Fineman, she also recalled her experience when Elon Musk â whom she previously revealed made her “burst into tears” after criticizing a sketch she wrote for him back in 2021 â hosted SNL, telling WWHL, “We really got along. I thought we kind of had a vibe â after he made me cry. We went on quite a journey. He made me cry, I was like, âFuck you.â And then the sketch got picked, we did the sketch, and we got along.”
