Since Marvelregained hte film rights of X-Men in 2019, fans have been eager to know when the next film will be releasing. Last year, Marvel was reportedly negotiating a script, setting a late 2025 timeline to begin shooting for the new film.
While nothing has been confirmed by the studios just yet, Hollywood insider and film critic Jeff Sneider spoke on his podcast The Hot Mic to reveal that Harris Dickinson is a top contender to play the titular role of Cyclops in the long-awaited reboot. Dickinson has been known for his roles in The Iron Claw, Triangle of Sadness and Babygirl as of late. Previous to Dickinson’s rumored role as Cyclops, Jack Champion’s name was thrown around for the part as well. Sneider notes that these are rumors for now, but he “knows Marvel likes” Dickinson and thinks he could be a frontrunner.
Other big names eyed for roles in the reboot include Stranger Things alum Sadie Sink for Jean Grey as well as The Bear‘s Ayo Edebiri for Storm. Kitty Pryde and Gambit, albeit unsure if it will be Channing Tatum’s Gambit, are all expected to be in the reboot. So far, very little details have been shared regarding the release and the script but, Marvel is aiming for a 2027 premiere date.
