American Airlines is set to resume flights from Wichita, Kan., to Washington, DC on Friday, according to reports and publicly available data.

The flights from The Sunflower State to the nation’s capital had been halted after American Airlines Flight 5342 had a midair collision with a helicopter on its approach to Reagan National Airport on Wednesday night, killing all passengers in both craft.

American Airlines Flight 5677 is scheduled to take off at 5:18 p.m. from Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport to DC — the first trip since the disaster, according to Flight Radar 24.

A Mitsubishi CRJ-701ER is the plane model that will be used by American Eagle, who operates the flights that ferry folks to and from the Midwest and DC.

The plane route from Wichita to DC first started just over a year ago on January 8, 2024.

Additionally, the Reagan Airport runway the American Airlines flight was approaching moments before the crash remains temporarily shutdown. Runway 33 is set to be closed until 6 p.m. ET Saturday, perr an FAA alert to pilots.
