Although Lukas Gage has done his own stunts in stunts in the past, he’ll likely opt for a double going forward.
After starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor in last year’s Doug Liman-helmed Road House remake, the actor recently revealed he suffered an injury during one combat scene.
“I was out of my element, and they asked me if I wanted to use a stunt guy, and I was like, ‘Hell no, I’m not a wimp,’” recalled Gage on After Midnight. “And I did my first fight scene with Conor McGregor, he hit my back, I might have fractured a disc in my back. But I signed for it, it was my fault. They paid me very well, I’m not gonna sue. I love you guys.”

He told host Taylor Tomlinson, “What was I thinking next to Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor? That’s just… it wasn’t great.”
Gage wouldn’t disclose how much he was paid out for after the on-set incident, noting he “didn’t wear padding” because he “was trying to be cool” in front of his co-stars.
When the Prime Video remake of the 1989 Patrick Swayze film debuted on the streaming platform in March 2024, it surpassed 50 million viewers in its first two weekends.
Liman previously expressed his frustration to Deadline that Road House wasn’t going theatrical, and initially refused to show up at its SXSW premiere. However, he came around to support his movie and attended the debut screening in Austin.
