When Harry Met Sally co-stars and romcom legends Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal have finally reunited … for a Super Bowl ad promoting Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, surprisingly enough.
The Super Bowl ad shows Ryan and Crystal back at their old haunt, Katz’s Delicatessen, where Ryan famously faked an orgasm in When Harry Met Sally back in 1989.
“I can’t believe they let us back in this place,” Crystal comments in the ad as he and Ryan sit down for a sandwich.
Ryan appears to be unhappy with her sandwich until she spreads a healthy dose of Hellmann’s mayonnaise on it. And that’s apparently enough to get her going!
Crystal watches on, unmoved, as Ryan begins moaning and gyrating while enjoying her sandwich. “Here we go. Oh boy,” he comments. “This one’s real.”
Just like in the movie, Ryan’s passionate display interrupts the other diners’ otherwise peaceful lunch. “Now that is a sandwich,” Ryan says once she’s done.
But Hellmann’s has one last trick up its sleeve: Sydney Sweeney even makes an appearance!
The Euphoria actress utters what might be the most iconic part of that When Harry Meets Sally scene. “I’ll have what sheâs having,” she comments.
Rom-com fans had hoped that Crystal and Ryan were going to reunite for a new film or possibly a sequel to their hit comedy, but this 30-second spot will have to be enough to hold them over.
Crystal recently said it felt like the “perfect” time to reunite with Ryan, considering the film will soon celebrate its 35th anniversary. It was also recently added to the National Film Registry.
âIt just felt like the perfect storm for us to get back together at the same table and have indigestion,â he said, per Variety, later adding that he hoped viewers would feel like their characters âhave been coming there for 35 years every Saturday or Sunday and this is their thing.â
The Super Bowl airs Feb. 9 at 6:30/5:30c on FOX. Scroll up to watch Hellmann’s Super Bowl ad.
