The Bachelor‘s Season 29 premiere was a family affair for Grant Ellis.
The 31-year-old day trader from New Jersey got some words of wisdom from his parents, gave a first impression rose to his late grandma, and even caught up with his sister Taylor before heading back to the mansion. But before Night 1 ended, one of the special women in his life returned to screen to lovingly crash his cocktail party and give his contestants a serious scare.
Mid-way through the Season 29 premiere on January 27, Grant’s gorgeous sister Taylor Ellis got glammed up, arrived at the mansion in a limo, and walked through roomfuls of his brother’s romantic prospects to check in with him and show her support.
“I loved it. It was great,” Ellis told Decider via Zoom when asked about sharing his big night with his sister. “She loved it, too. And getting to see her involved in the process was really, really eye opening for me.”
Before Taylor introduced herself to the group, Grant’s 25 contestants assumed she was one of his ex girlfriends hoping to join the season and were swift to dub her Enemy #1. They claimed she “walked out vagina first” like she was “on a mission,” but once Grant introduced his older sis, everyone softened and welcomed their potential sister-in-law with open arms, saying, “We’re all so happy…we didn’t mean anything we were saying five mins ago.”
After sharing some of Grant’s precious baby photos with the Season 29 cast, Taylor had one final “gotcha!” moment with the group, explaining, “In all seriousness, what brings Grant here tonight is his desire to find true love. But Grant has not been honest with you all. He’s not here to get engaged….He’s here for way more than that! He’s here to find his wife, his soulmate, his best friend, his everything, and no one else deserves to find love more than Grant.”
Taylor stuck around for the party, caught up with the contestants, and spilled some additional tea on her baby brother, revealing that he had a long-term girlfriend for seven years, he loves hard, and he could be better with organization. By the end of the night, she may have even become more popular than Linda the No Drama Llama!
“Overall, [the women] seemed like they were seriously here to find love. I like them. I have green flags for them, so it’s gonna be a little hard for him,” Taylor told cameras.
“I trust my sister. She understands me at my core, and I think she let some of these ladies know that I want love…and she gave me some really solid advice,” Grant explained. “She knows I’m gonna make the right decision and to follow my heart.”
For members of Bachelor Nation hoping to learn more about Grant’s sister, you can follow Taylor on Instagram at @lorealellis, where she had 29,400 followers ahead of the Season 29 premiere. Why so many? She’s a model! And according to Grant, she’s also single!
“She’s single right now. And yeah, I would definitely support her,” the Season 29 lead said when asked about Taylor potentially following in his footsteps to look for love within the franchise. “If she wanted to do it, I would be an advocate for sure.”
Whether or not we see Taylor Ellis return the franchise for her own love story, we’re glad we met her during Grant’s premiere, and we hope to see more of her as the season progresses.
New episodes of The Bachelor premiere Mondays at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
