Sky Studios Elstree Exec Tom Avison To Lead Perth Film Studios
The upcoming Perth Film Studios has a CEO. Tom Avison is relocating from the UK, where he works as Director of Operations for Sky Studios Elstree outside London, for Western Australia and will lead the multi-million dollar studio. Watch on Deadline
Reality competition show The League of Extraordinary…, which made its name on CBC in Canada, is set for a Nordic remake. ITV Studios Nordics has acquired the option to the format (aka Canada’s Ultimate Challenge), which sees entire countries become a giant obstacle course, for Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. We saw the premise of the show, creating a nationwide obstacle course, delivers some unexpected, jaw-dropping moments in the wild and the authenticity of the both the settings and the people who are genuinely doing their best to win, creates a dramatic result with real high stakes.” The League of Extraordinary… has previously been optioned in Germany by Leonine Studios’ Madame Zheng Production. CBC is set to launch a third season of the original show on February 27. Insight Productions and The Gurin Company, which is also owned by TGC founder Phil Gurin, make the series.
TV4 Picks Up ‘Fallen‘ Season 2
Sweden’s TV4 has ordered a second season of Fallen, the dramas from The Bridge screenwriter Camilla Ahlgren, Martin Asphaug and Alex Haridi. Sofia Helen (The Bridge, Atlantic Crossing) will once again star in the show as the leader of a cold case team. A fresh case opens when a body is found buried outside a mansion in Ystad, while another that is being tracked by a team of documentary makers could be connected. Banijay Entertainment’s Filmlance is co-producing with TV4, Germany’s ZDF and Film I Skåne, with Sigrid Nordenhake and Anna Wallmark the producers. Lisa Dahlberg is the executive producer for TV4, and the directors are Johan Lundin and Linn Mannheimer. Banijay Rights, which distributes the series internationally, has previously sold Season 1 into France, Australia and the U.S. among other territories. “Fallen is a brilliant example of a new type of crime drama coming out of Sweden which is garnering international interest,” said Filmlance Managing Director Hanne Palmquist, the former HBO Europe exec. “Camilla Ahlgren has created an intriguing world with tender characters, and this, paired with the acting talent of Sofia Helin, makes for a premium drama for local audiences and beyond.” The announcement came today at the TV Drama Vision event, which is part of the Goteborg Film Festival.
