For years, FX has been teasing a bold new chapter in the Alien franchise, created by none other than Fargo and Legion mastermind Noah Hawley. Details surrounding Alien: Earth have been carefully shrouded in mystery, with little teasers here and there whetting sci-fi fans’ appetites. This morning, FX unveiled a new teaser trailer that emphasizes the show’s terrifying premise, while promising that Hawley’s television take on Ridley Scott‘s O.G. chilling space horror will embrace the core terror of the franchise.
So what is Alien: Earth about? Who’s in the Alien: Earth cast? When will Alien: Earth be out? And where can you watch Alien: Earth?
Here’s everything we know about FX’s latest bold masterpiece, Alien: Earth…
What is FX’s Alien: Earth About?
Good question! The earliest details we got about Alien: Earth came during a Disney Investor Day back in 2020. We were told that the series would be set on Earth in the “near future,” as opposed to a few hundred years out like the original Alien films.
Last November, we got an official description from FX: “When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in the sci-fi horror series Alien: Earth. As members of the crash recovery crew search for survivors among the wreckage, they encounter mysterious predatory life forms more terrifying than they could have ever imagined. With this new threat unlocked, the search crew must fight for survival and what they choose to do with this discovery could change planet Earth as they know it.”
So it’s called Alien: Earth because…the show will have aliens on Earth!
Today’s new teaser hammers this concept home, showing the vessel in the midst of crashing to Earth, a clearly agitated Xenomorph on board. A new tagline for the series ominously warns, “We were safer in space.”
Who’s Who in the Alien: Earth Cast?
The Alien: Earth cast features beloved stars like Timothy Olyphant alongside up-and-coming talents who stood out in Andor and Don’t Worry Darling, horror stalwarts from faves like The Babadook, and fresh new faces. Here’s who’s in the Alien: Earth cast:
- Sydney Chandler
- Alex Lawther
- Timothy Olyphant
- Essie Davis
- Samuel Blenkin
- Babou Ceesay
- David Rysdahl
- Adrian Edmondson
- Adarsh Gourav

Deadline has reported that Chandler’s character, Wendy, is a “meta-human” with the body of a full-grown woman and the mind and experiences of a child. Timothy Olyphant’s Kirsh is her synth mentor and trainer.
When Will Alien: Earth Come Out? Where to Watch Alien: Earth:
While we don’t have an exact date for the new FX series, we do know that Alien: Earth will premiere on Hulu Summer 2025.
Because Alien: Earth is an FX original, the only place you’ll be able to stream it will be on Hulu and on Disney+ (with a Hulu add-on bundled plan).
Is There an Alien: Earth Trailer?
There is a new Alien: Earth teaser trailer which you can watch by scrolling to the top of this page. Although it’s only about 30 seconds long, you can see a spacecraft in utter distress, hurtling out of space and into the orbit of Earth’s gravity. The camera follows the erratic, jerky movement of a Xenomorph moving frantically through the spaceship. It all confirms the basic premise…the aliens are coming to Earth.
