WOOYOUNGMI‘s Fall/Winter 2025 is straight forward and to the point. Taking inspiration from the Korean philosophy of ch’orhak, meaning “how to become wiser,” the collection is all about self-reflection and cultivation. Using dressing as a form of self-discipline, this season promotes utilitarian silhouettes, exploring the modern iterations of elegance.
While traditional sharp tailoring is a highlighted dress code throughout the collection, romantic floral formations interrupt the formal setting bringing a poetic sense of ceremony to the collection. The floral motifs are reflected in the casual knitwear as well for a shift towards the everyday wardrobe. In terms of outerwear, the collection offers a great amount of trench coats, Crombie coats and parkas that reassure the heritage of the brand. Workwear pieces speak to the utilitarian elegance seeing structured cargo pockets on the coats, suits and shirts. Sportswear silhouettes for outdoor winter sports see padded outerwear, nylon and leather trousers as well as knits for comfort and functionality.
This season also sees WOOYOUNGMI delve deeper into the world of footwear with laced-up derbies, Chelsea boots and block-heel leather shoes that riff of of the shoes of ceremonial wardrobes. Continued notes to the Korean culture include a nod to the “minhwa,” which is the Korean folk art of the Chosun era. Garments are adorned with the landscape drawings, giving a sentimental and touching tribute in the collection.
