President Trump tore into his predecessor’s “gross” mishandling of the migrant crisis for allowing violent gang members with “tattoos all over their faces” to stream into the country unchecked.
In his first sit-down interview of his second term, Trump told Sean Hannity that the chaos created by former President Biden left him no option but to prioritize kicking out illegal immigrants and beefing up security at the southern border.
“People pouring in,” Trump said of the some 8 million people illegally entering the country during the four years under Biden.
“Some of whom, I won’t get into it, but you can look at them and you can say, ‘Could be trouble,’” he said.
“There are people coming in with tattoos all over their face. … typically, you know, he’s not going to be head of the local bank,” he quipped.
Hours after he was sworn in Monday, Trump declared a national emergency at the border with Mexico, declaring “America’s sovereignty is under attack.”
Trump’s charge against illegal entry at the border has taken top priority already in his first week in office.
In the days since returning to the White House, Trump has taken several measures against the issue, including nixing the CBP One app and making plans to deploy some 10,000 troops at the US-Mexico border.
