Mel Gibson’s so-called movie jail continues to be lenient, because the director is once again back with a new action blockbuster starring Mark Wahlberg, aka Flight Risk, which opens in movie theaters this weekend.
Flight Risk was directed by Gibson, with a screenplay written by Jared Rosenberg. Wahlberg stars as a sketchy pilot named Daryl Booth, who flies the private plane carrying a Debuty U.S. Marshal (played by Michelle Dockery) and a government witness in a mafia trial (played by Topher Grace). When the passengers learn the pilot is actually there to take out the witness, they must fight to survive while flying high.
Gibson was dropped by his talent agency in 2010 after audio leaked of him screaming obscenities at his then-girlfriend, who also accused him of domestic violence. He’s made multiple, documented anti-Semitic, racist, and homophobic comments. Though many Hollywood figures cut ties with Gibson since that audio leak in 2010, he has directed two films, and produced and acted in many more films. That comeback now continues with Flight Risk. Where to watch the Mark Wahlberg movie Flight Risk:
For now, Flight Risk will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters in the U.S. on Friday, January 24. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Flight Risk is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Is the Flight Risk movie streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime?
Flight Risk is not streaming on Netflix, and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Lionsgate release in the U.K., and will likely stream on Starz, the streaming platform owned by Lionsgate, instead.
You will be able to purchase Flight Risk on Amazon Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Flight Risk on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch Flight Risk movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Starz.
Is Flight Risk streaming on Starz?
Flight Risk is not yet streaming on Starz. You might see Flight Risk on Starz in early summer 2025, because that is the streaming platform owned by Lionsgate. Another Lionsgate film, Borderlands, was released on premium video-on-demand after three weeks in theaters, and began streaming on Starz on December 25, about four and a half months after the movie opened in the theaters.
If Flight Risk follows the same release pattern, you can expect to see the movie on digital by February 2025, and on Starz in about four and a half months, which would be around late May or early June 2025.
But this is all speculation. If you want to watch Flight Risk right away, you can watch it in a movie theater.
