Hitting the half-century mark “can’t come soon enough” for Drew Barrymore.

The talk show host told – you guessed it – AARP The Magazine, “It can’t come soon enough. I feel like Frodo. I see that brass ring and I’m so excited!,” she said likening herself to “The Lord of the Rings” character.

She added, “I have no issues with aging. This is the happiest I’ve been in my life.”

Barrymore is seemingly celebrating her upcoming milestone by gracing the February/March 2025 cover of AARP. The former child star’s journey to the big 5-Oh hasn’t been smooth sailing. In the issue, she opens up about about her descision to swear off alcohol, men and acting.

Her 2016 divorce from Will Kopelman, for example, felt like, “my dream family was falling apart,” she said.

“I didn’t know how to put one foot in front of the other – and I had grown up so fast – but now I didn’t know what age to feel,” she said and added, “I just knew that my life was heavy, and painful and sad… Eventually, thank goodness, I lifted myself out of it. I had two kids and I had to figure it out.”

Barrymore and Kopelman share daughters, Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10, who, she says, encourage her to hop back into the dating pool.

“My girls say I should go on dates, but I also know how I felt when men were around when I was little. It didn’t feel safe to me, so I’m probably overcautious from those experiences,” she said.

Barrymore turns 50 on Feb. 22 and she’s more grateful than ever. “I would have never guessed that I would feel peace. Thank you 50. Thank you, AARP!,” she said.
