Lewis Hamilton marked the start of a new era in his illustrious career with an emotional first day at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello. The seven-time Formula 1 World Champion has joined the Scuderia after leaving Mercedes, replacing Carlos Sainz to partner Charles Leclerc.
Taking to social media, Hamilton expressed his excitement, sharing a photo of himself in an all-black suit alongside a classic Ferrari F40. “There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days,” he wrote. “Part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn’t be happier to realise that dream today.”
Hamilton’s first day included a warm welcome from Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, Team Principal Fred Vasseur and Vice Chairman Piero Ferrari. He then toured the Fiorano track and the historic office of Ferrari’s late founder, Enzo Ferrari, as part of his “immersion programme” to familiarize himself with the team.
Grateful for the opportunity, Hamilton added, “I’m dedicated to bringing everything I have to deliver for the team, the wider organisation, and the fans.”
Ferrari confirmed that Hamilton will spend the week engaged in pre-season tasks, including technical briefings and meetings with various departments, as he prepares to race with the iconic team. See more of his visit in the video below.
