Looking to succumb to the darkness from the comfort of your couch? Then you’re in luck, because the new Nosferatu movie is landing on digital platforms this week.
Written and directed by Robert Eggers (known for his twisted horror films like The Witch and The Lighthouse), this film is a remake of the famed 1922 silent German film Nosferatu, which itself was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula.
This version of Nosferatu stars Nicholas Hoult (in his second Dracula adaptation in two years time, following 2023’s Renfield) as Thomas Hunter and Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hunter, a newly-wed couple in 1838 Germany. Thanks to a wish she made as a girl, Ellen finds herself stalked by a dark creature of the night, Count Orlok (played by Bill Skarsgård).
The film was a critical success, and has made a respectable $137.6 million at the worldwide box office so far. So is it surprising that Universal is releasing Nosferatu on digital platforms after less than one full month in theaters? Not really. In fact, most Universal titles have been pushed “premium” video-on-demand after just over two weeks in theaters. The fact that Nosferatu got more than two weeks in theaters is a sign that the studio recognizes it as a hit.
Here’s what you need to know about how to watch the Nosferatu movie online and when we expect to see Nosferatu streaming on Peacock.
Where to watch the Nosferatu 2024 movie on streaming:
Beginning on Tuesday, January 21, the new Nosferatu movie will be available to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the film costs $29.99 to buy a digital copy, and $24.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to watch the movie after hitting “play.”
Wicked is not yet streaming on any subscription streaming services, but we do expect to see Nosferatu streaming on Peacock soon.
When will Nosferatu be streaming on Peacock?
Nosferatu‘s streaming release date on Peacock has not yet been announced, but we know that Nosferatu will stream on Peacock eventually because it is a Universal movie, and Peacock is the streaming service owned by Universal. All the new Universal theatrical movies end up streaming on Peacock, though the wait period has varied by title.
Another Universal release, Speak No Evil, began streaming on Peacock on December 6, which was about three months after the movie opened in theaters, and about two months after the film released on digital.
If Nosferatu follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie streaming on Peacock around March 2025.
This is all speculation. Universal has not had a consistent digital release strategy. If you want to watch Nosferatu movie right away, you can catch the movie in theaters.
