Raven’s Make Final Decision on Zay Flowers Playing in Divisional Matchup vs Bills

The Baltimore Ravens will be without the services of their No. 1 wide receiver in Zay Flowers for Sunday’s Divisional Round against the Bills.

This comes as expected since Flowers failed to gain enough progress to participate in practice this week and missed last week’s Wild Card win over the Steelers due to a knee injury.

Flowers was listed as doubtful throughout the week and upgraded wide receiver Anthony Miller from the practice squad.

But there was some optimism the team’s receiving leader would be able to suit up by Sunday evening.

“I think he will have a chance,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told reporters this week.

Flowers sustained a knee injury in the regular-season finale, causing him to miss his first game of the season during the Wild Card Round. The Ravens’ 28-14 defeat of the Steelers last Saturday relied on a dominant ground game in Flowers’ stead; the performance set franchise playoff record with 299 rushing yards.

With a frigid weather forecast in Buffalo on Sunday, the Ravens’ ground game will need to keep its groove going. However, the absence of Flowers could potentially create challenges against a Buffalo defense that was strong in its wild-card victory, limiting the Broncos to just 7 points and 224 total yards.

Wide receivers Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor, who totaled three catches for 49 yards and a touchdown last Saturday, will need to step up to compensate through the air. However, quarterback Lamar Jackson also has a talented tight end duo in Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, who combined for seven receptions and 80 yards in the Wild Card Round.
