A new semester at KISS means new beginnings, new love interests, and new drama for teenage matchmaker Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart). But it will also bring some familiar faces.
The To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before spin-off series XO, Kitty takes the youngest Covey sister on a new journey to Seoul, Korea, where she’s attending the same international school her late mother attended when she was a teenager. In true Covey fashion, Kitty boldly picked up her entire life for a chance at love with her long-distance boyfriend Dae-Heon Kim (Choi Min-young). But she unexpectedly found love in different places; namely, in Dae’s fake girlfriend but close friend Yuri Han (Gia Kim), and his roommate Min Ho Moon (Sang Heon Lee).
While Season 1 focused heavily on her troubled love life, Season 2 brings the Song Covey family back to the forefront of Kitty’s mind as she swears off of romance to focus on learning more about her mother’s mysterious past, which means some key stars from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before help her along the way.
It’s already been announced that the one and only Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) pays Kitty a visit while traveling with the Stanford lacrosse team.
The surprise cameo is made all the more better when he crosses paths with Kitty’s love interest, Min Ho Moon, who becomes inexplicably jealous when he sees them together. But Peter leaves Kitty with a special gift from Lara Jean: A stack of letters she found that were sent to her mother!
“Working with Anna again was amazing,” Centineo told Netflix’s Tudum about the happy reunion. “She’s so wonderfully talented, and her work ethic shows in every scene. Stepping back into the To All the Boys universe was a true joy, and I hope our incredible audience enjoys seeing Peter again as much as I did.”
Fans will also enjoy a Song Covey sister reunion. Lara Jean (Lana Candor) sadly did not make an appearance in XO, Kitty Season 2. But fans will get to see Janel Parrish, who plays the eldest sister Margot Song Covey, traveling to Seoul with their grandmother to help her reconnect with her estranged sister.
LJ’s absence is palpable this season as Kitty inevitably follows in her sister’s hopelessly romantic footsteps. Not only did Kitty write a letter to Yuri to help herself get over her crush at Lara Jean’s suggestion, but she also recreated that iconic hot tub scene LJ and Peter shared in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.
XO, Kitty has not yet been renewed for a third season. But, these surprise cameos hint towards the possibility that fans may finally get to see Lara Jean visit her little sister in Season 3.
Either way, XO, Kitty is just as effervescent and lighthearted as its predecessor, thanks to Cathcart and her striking co-stars. It cements Kitty Song Covey as a young woman truly striking out on her own path, just as Lara Jean had her chance to with the trilogy.
