In welcoming the upcoming Lunar New Year, Parmigiani Fleurier has unveiled a new iteration of its Tonda PF Xiali Chinese Calendar in rose gold. Back in 2023, the Swiss Maison debuted its first Chinese Calendar timepiece, presented in a stainless build with a matching integrated bracelet. The newest iteration trades the steel build for gentle rose gold, elevating the intricate model with added luxury.
Housed in a 42mm case made of 18-carat rose gold, the timepiece features an elegant knurled bezel in the same material. Its sophisticated dial arrives in a regal Imperial Red hue with a guilloché patterned finish. Surrounding the hour-markers are the 24 solar terms, symbolizing different phases of the agricultural calendar, adding a layer of cultural significance to the design.
At the 12 o’clock position, a three-leveled subdial provides the name of the year, along with its associated zodiac animal and element. This detailed feature offers a nod to the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, enhancing the timepiece’s cultural depth. The 9 o’clock subdial presents the 12 months in Chinese characters, while the 3 o’clock subdial displays the day and indicates whether it is a long or short date, offering a comprehensive and intuitive layout for the wearer.
The moon phase indication subdial at the 6 o’clock position adds another layer of sophistication and functionality to the watch. This feature not only enhances the visual appeal but also serves as a practical tool for tracking lunar cycles. The harmonious blend of these elements creates a visually balanced and aesthetically pleasing dial that caters to both practical needs and artistic appreciation.
Through the sapphire crystal open caseback, the watch reveals the meticulously crafted PF008 Calibre with a Côtes de Genève finish, beveled bridges and a 22-carat rose gold skeletonized oscillating weight.
The Tonda PF Xiali Chinese Calendar in rose gold will release on January 29, coinciding with the turning of the Lunar New Year to celebrate the Year of the Wood Snake.
