Devin Booker is no stranger to showcasing his PEs on the court. Earlier this weekend, Book debuted a new pair of Nike Book 1 PEs that seem to take inspiration from the Cortez silhouette. Displaying some Phoenix Suns pride, the shoe is adorned in a clean white leather upper and purple and orange accents throughout as a nod to his team.
Appearing to fuse retro 1970s Cortez aesthetics with his first signature shoe, Book leans into the reference with this Suns-inspired pair. Just recently, Nike shared that the Nike Book 1 “Forrest Gump”, which directly takes style notes from the original Cortez is dropping later this month. Already proven to be a fan favorite, Book tests the waters with this Suns colorway. The premium full leather upper departs from the classic red and blue colorway that the “Forrest Gump” has. The tumbled leather Swoosh is adorned in purple to match the heel and tongue branding, while a part of the midsole is detailed in orange.
Shown as a PE, it is uncertain at the time if the shoe will be a general release down the line like the “Forrest Gump” colorway. Take a closer look above or below.
