NASCAR fans have been left puzzled after the sport made a tweak to its schedule for the 2025 Talladega Truck Series race, specifically adjusting the start time.
Initially set for 3:30 PM EST on October 17, the race will now start at 4:00 PM EST. This change impacts only the Craftsman Truck Series race scheduled for that Friday.
This comes despite concerns about the lack of lighting at Talladega Superspeedway.
These changes, reported by Bob Pockrass from FOX Sports, are currently the only alterations to the playoff race weekend schedule. Pockrass shared:
“Let me clarify this is the truck race — NASCAR announced a time change for the Talladega truck race in October (Oct 17), that it will now begin at 4pm ET instead of 3:30 p ET.”

The change has raised concerns amongst fans about the lack of daylight available by pushing the race back. One fan commented:
“Yeah we all know there’s gonna be a red flag for some big crash in the race and then we’ll be fighting daylight because it’s in the middle of October. Ik dega can’t have lights. But would be cool if they did.” [sic]
Another fan posted that this would surely lead to a shortened race:
“They are literally asking for a shortened race.”
Someone else agreed, making the same point:
“So it can get shortened by darkness.”
NASCAR’s 2025 season brings multiple changes, such as venue switches with Homestead-Miami, Nashville, and Pocono all seeing date adjustments.
These changes, including new venues like Bowman Gray Stadium and others, highlight NASCAR’s commitment to refreshing its lineup to maintain fan engagement.
The 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series kicks off at Daytona International Speedway on February 14 followed by Atlanta Motor Speedway on February 22. The regular season runs until August 15 at Richmond Raceway with the Playoffs starting in Darlington on August 30.
