Denise Richards knew that appearing on the FOX reality show Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test would push her to her limits, physically and mentally, but she probably didn’t realize it would send her to the hospital.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star recounts how her implants burst after jumping off of a bridge during the grueling challenge series. Knowing something was wrong with them after the fact, Richards was more concerned about how the bridge jump may have affected her four repaired hernias.

After jumping wearing a tight-fitting harness over her body, Richard experienced swelling and worried more surgery would be needed to repair the hernias. Thankfully it went down. Next, she was given the choice of leaving for medical attention or staying.

“I wanted to see a doctor, and I wanted to make sure that I was okay to continue with the weight and doing stuff,” Richards said to EW. “I wanted to make sure I didn’t damage the hernias. I knew the implants, and that was something I knew I could still continue [with]. I was too embarrassed to even say anything about those. But it was where I had my surgery before with my hernias that I wanted to make sure.”

The problem of the breasts remains. Richards continued the rest of the time on the show with the rupture and has yet to repair them.

“I still have to have surgery with my implants,” the Wild Things star told Entertainment Weekly. “I just haven’t had the downtime yet. I’m hoping to do it in a couple weeks. Either [replaced] or removed, whatever I decide to do. The ones that are there have to come out.”

Having now exited, Richards made the most of her time on the exhilarating competition series, even staying through an injury.

“I felt like I had no choice,” Richards said, “but I did want to stay as long as I could.”

The reality show Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test challenges celebrities of all varieties to take on daring training exercises led by former Special Forces operatives. Episodes drop Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on FOX, and are available to stream next day on Hulu.
