Meghann Fahy shared a rare glimpse at her romance with Leo Woodall as the couple continue to solidify their status as one of TV’s golden couples. The two recently jetted off on a romantic mini-break to the Maldives, which Fahy documented on Instagram via a series of sweet photographs of the pair having fun in the sun.
The carousel—captioned, “Just making the cut for the last day Larry David says you can say happy new year!!”—included several swimsuit selfies of Fahy, pictures of her relaxing on a boat, and a shot of the actors’ shadows, silhouetted on the sandy beach as they kissed. In a move which delighted fans, who have long been desperate to catch a glimpse of Fahy and Woodall together, the actor tagged her beau in the post. They appeared to be staying at the One&Only Reethi Rah resort, which occupies its own island and boasts 12 beaches, a dive centre and a private butler for every villa. No wonder it’s a hotspot of choice for celebrities, from David Beckham and Tom Cruise, to Milla Jovovich and Idris Elba.

Woodall and Fahy first sparked romance rumors in September 2022, when Woodall shared polaroid snaps of himself and Fahy from their time on the set of White Lotus in Sicily. “That’s amore,” Woodall captioned his social media post, which included one photograph of him leaning over and putting his finger in Fahy’s mouth. In another, Fahy rested her head on his shoulder. “I love you! I love these! I love you!” Fahy wrote in the comments section, while Woodall replied: “Love you right back.” Months of speculation about a potential romance followed, but the pair didn’t confirm their relationship until November 2023, when they were spotted kissing in New York.
Fahy officially announced that she was dating Woodall in February 2024, by posting a charming picture on Instagram of the duo walking around Boston. Leo quipped “Who is he?!” under the photo, a comment that fans went wild for, of course. Since then, the couple have been relatively open about their relationship, frequently posting loved-up shots on Instagram—such as of a getaway to Vienna, and throwbacks to their time together on White Lotus.

Woodall and Fahy are both at the top of their game career-wise, with Fahy winning plaudits for her star turn in The Perfect Couple and Woodall reaching new levels of fame following his role as dashing Dexter Mayhew in the remake of One Day. This Valentine’s Day, he will return to the screen as Bridget Jones’ younger love interest in Mad About The Boy. But Woodall is far from the first Hollywood star in his family—in fact, he’s a descendant of famed American actress Maxine Elliott, who was also known as “Little Jessie” or Jessie Dermott.

The “White Lotus” pair have finally gone official.
Elliott’s acting career began in 1889, when she started using the stage name Maxine Elliott, before she appeared on stage in The Middleton the following year. Her big break came in 1895, when she was hired by Augustin Daly to be supporting actress to Ada Rehan. She went onto marry comedian Nat C Goodwin in 1898, and the two starred in a number of hits including Nathan Hale and The Cowboy and the Lady. Elliott was financially savvy from the off—for her appearance in The Merchant of Venice, she negotiated a contract for $200 and one-half of the profits over $20,000. She had her first solo billing when she appeared in the opening of Her Own Way on Broadway on September 28, 1903.
Her career was blossoming, and when the production of the play moved to London in 1906, King Edward VII is said to have taken an interest in her. He asked for her to be presented to him, and they were rumored to have had an intimate relationship. Elliott would go on to divorce Goodwin in 1908, but her path to love showed no sign of slowing down. Instead, she became friendly with JP Morgan—with some biographers claiming the two had a sexual relationship. While there is no evidence to substantiate the rumors, Morgan offered Elliott financial advice, helping her to manage her growing fortune.
It was with this support that, in 1908, she was able to open her own theatre, named the Maxine Elliott. At first, she was both the owner, manager, and the only woman in the US to be running her own theatre. She began experimenting with silent films in 1913, balancing her own film career with the needs of the theatre. In 1917, she returned to the US and began working with Charlie Chaplin and was seen a number of times with him and his entourage. A photograph, showing the two friends chatting while Elliott held onto the trim of her hat, was published on the cover of Tatler in 1919.
Elliott built her dream home, Château de l’Horizon in the south of France, in 1932, which was described by Punch as “a white palace set on the water.” The house, which cost $350,000 to build and had its own private port, became a clubhouse for the rich, famous, and powerful. She received guests including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, as well as Sir Winston Churchill, who would often holiday at the property. Elliott died in Cannes, France, in 1940.
Leo Woodall is well aware of his famous connections, and has made reference to his acting pedigree in interviews. “I have a great, great, great, great grandmother named Maxine Elliott and she had her own theater off-Broadway in New York,” Woodall told W Magazine last year. Add Woodall’s family history together with his own own prodigious talents, and it seems only a matter of time before his career goes stratospheric.
