Jacob Elordi is reportedly in negotiations for Ridley Scott‘s upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller The Dog Stars. After news of Paul Mescal reuniting with Scott for another film following Gladiator II, it seems like there is a scheduling issue that will now see Mescal replaced by Elordi.
Originally, Mescal was slated to star in the thriller that is about a catastrophic flu virus that ends up wiping out nearly all of humanity. But due to his involvement in Sam Mendes’ Beatles anthology, Mescal has to pull out of Scott’s film. Scott’s thriller is based on the 2012 novel by Peter Heller and is expected to be his next film after the Bee Gees biopic for Paramount. If Elordi’s deal is negotiated, he would play a pilot named Hig who befriends a gunman who later teams up with him as they try to outlast a group of scavengers called Reapers.
In December, Scott hinted to Christopher Nolan in a conversation about Mescal’s involvement could be optimistic knowing that his schedule is stacking up, “Paul is actually stacked up, doing the Beatles next. So I may have to let him go.” Elordi also has a busy schedule as he is expected to film the final season of Euphoria and star opposite Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights.
