Southern Charm star Craig Conover has finally spoken out about his breakup from fellow Bravolebrity Paige DeSorbo, revealing to fans that the breakup came as a “shock” for him as well.
Conover opened up about the breakup in a video shared on Instagram Stories Tuesday – but also took a moment to remind fans to “be kind” to the Summer House star.
“This has all been very, very unexpected to say the least,” he said. “But I guess life has to — I gotta start living again, whatever that looks like, whatever my new normal looks like, I have to start.”
He explained that the breakup happened “right before the holidays.”
“I was very shocked,” Conover admitted, before adding: “It’s okay. It takes two people to be in a relationship. You can’t control other people, you can only control how you react to it.”
He continued, “Remember to be kind to Paige, and me, and yourselves, and all of that good stuff. I’m still processing everything, which is normal. Three year relationship. It’s your best friend who you talk to all day, every day, and then they’re just gone.”
Conover concluded his message by thanking his supporters for their “kind messages.”
DeSorbo announced that they broke up after three years of dating during the Dec. 30 episode of her Giggly Squad podcast.
“I love him. I think he loves me. I think we will remain friends. No one did anything. I don’t think it was a bad thing,” she said on the podcast. “I think we both were being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want. I think that’s extremely powerful to be able to voice how you’re feeling in real time and what you want for your future.”
DeSorbo only had good things to say about their relationship, calling him “the best boyfriend I’ve ever had.”
The Bravo stars began dating after meeting on Winter House Season 1 in 2021. Conover recently told Decider they were doing “great,” adding that they enjoyed “representing long distance relationships on television.”
It’s the end of an era, as Bravo fan Jon Hamm put it.
