As Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson helped usher WWE‘s Monday Night Raw into its Netflix era, one of his biggest fans was in the crowd.
Baby Reindeer creator and star Richard Gadd, “a wrestling fan my entire life” who mentioned The Rock in his Golden Globes speech on Sunday, told Deadline he was “so psyched” to be at WWE’s Netflix debut, joking about getting The Rock in the ring himself.
“I’m gonna give him a Stone Cold Stunner. I’m gonna see, I think he can take it. He’s taken a few down the years,” said Gadd. “But it would be an honor to— maybe I’ll put my Golden Globe on the line in a sort of Universal Championship vs Golden Globe match with Cody Rhodes, maybe. Winner takes all.”
As his breakout Netflix series won the Golden Globe for Outstanding Limited Series or Anthology on Sunday, Gadd started his speech by giving The Rock an impromptu shoutout.
“This is insane seeing all you people here. That’s mad,” he said onstage. “The Rock’s there. This is crazy, I can’t believe it. Honestly, I grew up on you, man. This is nuts.”

While walking the red carpet for the 82nd Golden Globes, Gadd also confessed he’d “love to work with The Rock” while joking again taking him on in the ring.
“I’ve just been a wrestling fan my entire life, and I’m a big fan of The Rock, so maybe I’ll go up and give him a Stone Cold Stunner,” said Gadd. “No, he’d probably win a fight, let’s be honest. But I would love to do a film eventually.”
Gadd was also nominated for Best Actor — Miniseries or Television Film on Sunday, as co-star Jessica Gunning won Best Supporting Actress.
