LeBron James Surpasses Michael Jordan’s Record for Most 30 Point Games in NBA History

LeBron James is one to marvel at, setting another record this past weekend for the most 30-point games in NBA history. In a milestone 119-102 Los Angeles Lakers victory against the Atlanta Hawks, James cements himself as one of the greats, surpassing the legendary Michael Jordan in the record. The game was also James’ 563rd 30-point game, officially breaking the record set by Jordan with the Chicago Bulls in 2003.

In a post-game interview, James said of his feat, “It’s very humbling. Anytime I’m mentioned with any of the greats, and arguably the greatest ever to play the game, super cool. It’s someone I idolized in my childhood, and I wear 23 because of him. So to know that I can sit here and be in the room or in the conversation or whatever it is, when you mention MJ, it’s just super-duper dope for me, being a kid from where I’m from.”

With this record, James also surpassed the number of games Dirk Nowitzki played, moving up to the fourth in the all-time list. Continuing to break records at 40, James’ career shows no signs of stopping. The only two other players who have had 30-point games after turning 40 are Nowitzki and Jordan. Nowitzki had one and Jordan had four. In the five days after he turned 40, James already had two 30-point games.
