The 2025 Denim Trends We’ll Be Wearing Everywhere This Year

The way we wear jeans changes constantly, so to look truly now, it’s time to embrace the 2025 denim trends hitting the streets and our feeds. And thankfully for all of us, it’s easier than ever to give them a shot. Wide-leg jeans are still holding strong as the reigning silhouette, whether you wear them plain, with cuffs, or with the sculpted seams of barrel-leg jeans. All-denim ensembles are also gaining steam, proving one can never own too many jeans. If you really want to get ahead of things, keep an eye on flared jeans; they’re gaining on their roomier cousins after a big showing in Fashion Month’s best street style looks.

From Canadian tuxedos to the return of baggy shorts, these are the 2025 denim trends on my radar that you’ll want to wear everywhere this upcoming season—plus tips on how to style them with your existing capsule wardrobe.

1. Barrel jeans

Barrel jeans might look difficult to pull off, but when they hit, they hit. The curved, wide-leg silhouette lends an editorial edge to any outfit, making even the simplest pieces in your collection—white tees, bomber jackets, light cardigans—pop. (This category is also a catchall for balloon jeans, horseshoe jeans, and curved jeans, all similar silhouettes with the same impact.) To offset their extreme volume, keep everything above the waist more fitted, and don’t feel the need to go overboard on layers or accessories. 2. Denim on denim

The best way to wear jeans this year might just be to commit totally. As I mentioned before, Fashion Month was awash in all-denim outfits that proved the material is easy to dress up; brands like Ralph Lauren, Ganni, Rachel Comey, and Marimekko followed suit on their spring runways with equally chic ensembles. Thankfully, you don’t need to go designer to get the look—just buy a matching denim set (or mix and match pieces from your own closet) and you’re good to go for 2025. Don’t forget the accessories, though; a well-deployed bag, necktie, or leather belt will make your look feel more lived-in.

During this past Fashion Month, I noticed one styling trick on some of each city’s most stylish guests: thick, single-fold cuffs. Applied to rigid denim, the result is relaxed yet elegant—and so easy to try at home. Just take any pair of too-long jeans, give it a single roll, and wear it however you would otherwise. And if you’d rather keep the look permanently, virtually all of our favorite denim brands offer precuffed jeans to make styling as effortless as possible. 5. Flared silhouettes

After a few years in fashion jail, flared jeans are working their way back into the zeitgeist—but I promise it’ll be better this time around. Unlike the exaggerated flares of the ’70s or the heinous bootcut jeans of the early 2010s, this silhouette is much more understated: basically straight-leg jeans that flare ever-so-subtly starting at the knee. The trick to getting it right is proper footwear. Avoid sneakers in favor of boots and heels, which tuck nicely under the extra room at the hem and provide a bit of height that (literally and sartorially) elevates the cut.

On the runways and among Glamour editors, the consensus is clear: Seamed jeans are one of 2025’s coolest, most unexpected takes on denim. Everyone from preppy-cool Bally to boho-chic Ulla Johnson showed the creased construction for spring. Fashion people, meanwhile, have embraced front seams for a dressy, work-friendly look. After starting to trend last summer, it’s already clear that oversized jorts are poised to reign in the warmer months of 2025. (Trust me: When the Copenhagen girls are into something, it’s basically guaranteed to jump over here in a year or two, and the three examples above are all the proof I need.) These extra-long pairs perform exactly the same function as midi-skirts with even more coverage and movement, so consider investing now and wearing them before summer hits. Style your pair with an oversized leather jacket and loafers or go with a trench coat and knee-high boots that just kiss the hemline—perfection.
