It’s that old adage burned into your brain after your mom said it to you a million times growing up: If you don’t have anything nice to say, at least don’t admit to the world that you don’t know how to use Google. Kylie Kelce offered a refresher of this concept to the world, especially fans of podcast host Joe Rogan who are salty about her dethroning him from the top-rated show slot, on the latest episode of her show, Not Gonna Lie, released Thursday.
Since her podcast debuted and began its back-and-forth at the top of the charts with The Joe Rogan Experience, Kelce has drawn the ire of conservatives, not just by besting Rogan in ratings but by saying in a recent interview that her political views “agressively lean” left. In the new episode, Kelce said, “who the fuck is Kylie Kelce?” has emerged as a consistent top search on social media.
“I can’t get over the fact that you actually typed this into Twitter, when you could have typed it into Google,” she said. “And also you typed my name, so now you know what you’re gonna get: More Kylie Kelce content.”
Kelce appeared bewildered at the lack of understanding of the internet and how the attention economy works. Engagement, whether positive or negative, is still engagement in the digital eyes of the internet.
“A while ago I had talked to my producers about like, ‘Do we do like a segment on algorithms and explain to people that if you engage with the content and if you write my name and shit, you’re just gonna keep getting me on your timeline?’”
Another thing that Kelce said “has blown my mind” are the criticisms of her podcast as “amateur.”
“I’ve been fucking saying that about my own [podcast],” she said, laughing.
Kelce, who is married to former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce and is sister-in-law to current Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, debuted her weekly podcast in December.
