L.L. Bean has unveiled new outwear additions for its JAPAN EDITION line, a special collection designed by a Japanese team for the Japanese customer. The new lineup includes three styles inspired by the label’s retro outdoor history and Japanese streetwear sensibilities: the Windy Ridge Jacket, the Field Coat, and the Roxbury Vest
The Windy Ridge Jacket is inspired by a lightweight silhouette originally released in the 1990s. Large waist pockets and a wide button placket counterbalance the shorter length, an optimal styling detail for wide-legged bottoms. The nylon jacket is offered in two pared-back colorways: an off-white variant accented with forest green details and a black variant also finished with forest green details.
The Field Coat is a more traditional work jacket style completed with corduroy details and golden hardware. Made in a beige and light blue duck-like cotton fabric, the coat includes atypical double-paneled waist pockets and a zippered breast pocket. Details like the darting along the elbows give the loose-fitting piece a flattering fit.
Lastly, the Roxbury Vest adds an essential layering piece to the lineup. The windbreaker vest, offered in duo-toned colorways of navy/forest green and charcoal/purple, recalls the outdoor-geared color palettes used by L.L. Bean in the 1990s. An adjustable bungee cord waistband provides versatile approaches to styling and fit preferences.
The L.L. Bean JAPAN EDITION outerwear capsule is available now at United Arrows and select retailers in Japan.
