John Capodice, an acting veteran whose credits included Ryan’s Hope, Ace Venture and General Hospital, has died aged 83.
Capodice died on Monday December 30. The announcement was made on the New Jersey Pizzi Funeral Home website and did not list a cause of death.
The funeral home called Capodice “a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him.”
Born in 1941, Capodice was a character actor who starred in some of the biggest American TV shows and movies during a lengthy career. As recently as 2023 he was still voice acting.
He first landed a role in ABC-TV soap Ryan’s Hope as Lordy Lord in the late 1970s. Other big roles included Ace Ventura, in which he appeared as a detective, and General Hospital, in which he played Carmine Cerullo in the 1990s.

Capodice also starred in Seinfeld, The West Wing, Six Feet Under and Law & Order, through a prolific career with a hefty filmography. He also appeared in numerous theater productions.
The funeral home website said he was a U.S. army veteran from 1964 to 1966 serving in Korea and a “proud member of the Blauvelt Sons of Italy Rockland Lodge 2176.”
Capodice is survived by his wife Jane, two children and four grandchildren. Donations in his memory can be made to the Rockland Homes for Heroes.
