BAPE is beginning again – both literally and symbolically – with its new apparel release. Not only does BAPE’s newly unveiled Lunar New Year “Year of the Snake” capsule mark its first in-line release of 2025, but it also arrives as a homage to what exactly the snake represents: regrowth and rebirth.
“The Year of the Snake symbolizes resurrection and regeneration, as the snake sheds its skin and transforms into a new form—marking the beginning of something fresh and powerful,” BAPE wrote in an Instagram caption.
Signaling the latest installment of the label’s “A RISING BAPE” collection, the range sees BAPE shed its signature skin and embrace a new outlook, tapping specifically into the Yamata-no-Orochi motif across a lineup of jacketing, T-shirts, long-sleeve T-shirts, denim garments, mesh caps and hoodies.
“This collection draws inspiration from Yamata-no-Orochi,” BAPE continues, explaining it to be a “symbol of rebirth and transformation in Japanese mythology” that is then “brought to life through BAPE®’s signature graphic style.”
The imprint swaps camo for snakeskin, dipping its graphic tees in a scaly, foil-printed patterning and reworking its APE HEAD insignia to include a snake circling the image.
