Genshin Impact patch 5.3 is coming soon, bringing new characters and story with it. The update will add three characters: Mavuika, Citlali, and Lan Yan as players complete the Natlan story quest and head back to Liyue for Lantern Rite.
Below, we explain when Genshin Impact maintenance starts and ends, alongside the release time of patch 5.3. We’ve also added some details about what to expect from Genshin Impact version 5.3.
What time does Genshin Impact go down for maintenance?
Genshin Impact will go down for maintenance on Tuesday, Dec. 31, or Wednesday, Jan. 1 (depending on your time zone), at the following times and will be unavailable for approximately five hours:
- Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. PST for the west coast of North America
- Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. EST for the east coast of North America
- Dec. 31 at 10 p.m. GMT for the U.K.
- Dec. 31 at 11 p.m. CET for western Europe/Paris
- Jan. 1 at 7 a.m. JST for Japan/Tokyo
- Jan. 1 at 9 a.m. AEDT for Australia/Sydney
Make sure to burn your resin before maintenance starts, if you wanted to, but remember that the new battle pass will start once the new version launches, so you may want to hold off on doing certain weeklies.
What time does Genshin Impact version 5.3 start?
Genshin Impact should come back from maintenance with the 5.3 version at the following times:
- Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. PST for the west coast of North America
- Dec. 31 at 10 p.m. EST for the east coast of North America
- Jan. 1 at 3 a.m. GMT for the U.K.
- Jan. 1 at 4 a.m. CET for western Europe/Paris
- Jan. 1 at 12 p.m. JST for Japan/Tokyo
- Jan. 1 at 2 p.m. AEDT for Australia/Sydney
The servers may come up early or late, depending on how maintenance goes, but these are the approximate times 5.3 should go live. Usually Hoyoverse is pretty good by abiding by maintenance times. We don’t usually get extended maintenance, but it does end early sometimes!
What’s new in Genshin Impact version 5.3?
Version 5.3 will include the launch of two highly-anticipated 5-star characters: the Pyro Archon, Mavuika (a Pyro claymore-user) and Citlali (a Cyro catalyst-user). Lan Yan, a four-star Anemo catalyst-user will also be making her debut in 5.3. In addition, we’ll be going back to Liyue to celebrate Lantern Rite again, this time featuring skins for Xiangling and Hu Tao. Of course, that means there are a ton of minigames to play to earn premium currency and other materials.
This patch should also wrap up the Natlan story quest, but with both Lantern Rite and Natlan quests to complete, 5.3 will be a pretty big patch.
