Jason Momoa is officially returning to the DC Universe. While his reign as Aquaman has ended, a new chapter is beginning as he has signed on to be play the antihero Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is the second film co-CEOs of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran have rebooted in the DC Universe after David Corenswet’s highly anticipated Superman. Milly Alcock plays the protagonist hero, Kara Zor-El while Craig Gillespie is directing the film. and Ana Nogueira wrote the screenplay based on the comics by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Other characters alongside Momoa and Alcock are played by Matthias Schoenaerts as villain Krem of the Yellow Hill and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle.
Jason Momoa took to Instagram to reveal the announcement by sharing a quote from an interview he once did on the press tour for Aquaman 2. He said, “I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role.’ I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a fuck yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there.” Posting this quote, the Instagram caption also read, “They called,” signifying his official return to the DC Studios and accomplishing a goal to play Lobos.
