RM Sotheby’s is preparing to auction a rare 2020 McLaren Senna GTR, number 73 of just 75 units ever built. This track-focused hypercar, crafted by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), boasts an original MSRP of $1,780,000 USD, including nearly $75,000 in bespoke options.
Paying tribute to Formula One legend Ayrton Senna, the car features a striking livery inspired by the Brazilian driver’s iconic racing helmet. Its Solar Yellow base coat is complemented by gradient stripes in green and dark blue, with blue brake calipers, green active aero blades and yellow interior door struts.
Under the hood lies a Senna GTR LM-spec engine, a rare upgrade believed to be the only one available outside the original five LM models. This powerhouse delivers an impressive 821 hp and a 9,000-rpm rev limit, thanks to advanced enhancements like composite matrix valve-spring retainers, polished and ported heads and a remapped ECU.
Engineered purely for the track, the Senna GTR features aerodynamic refinements that generate over 2,205 pounds of downforce, aided by an LMP1-style rear wing and reprofiled front splitter. Its active aero system adjusts dynamically to optimize downforce, drag, or braking efficiency, achieving up to 3.0 g of decelerative force. Inside, the cockpit reflects its racing pedigree with FIA-approved six-point harnesses, a VBOX HD data logger and a car-to-pit radio system. Weight-saving measures, including carbon fiber panels and Plexiglass windows, contribute to a lean curb weight of just 2,619 pounds.
This unique example of the Senna GTR LM, with 541 miles on the odometer, is set to be auctioned off on January 24 as part of RM Sotheby’s Arizona sale and is expected to fetch as much as $1,300,000 USD.
