A car was crushed after it was struck by a westbound Long Island Rail Road train barreling through Central Islip early Saturday.
The accident occurred just before 4:30 a.m. near Lowell and East Suffolk avenues, according to the MTA.
Terrifying images captured by ABC 7 show that the mangled car was nearly flattened from the impact.
A single male occupant of the car somehow survived the gnarly wreckage — he was arrested and taken to the hospital. The MTA could not confirm what charges he faces or the extent of his injuries.
Fortunately, no one on board the early morning train suffered any injuries.
The MTA is working to determine what led to the collision.
Service was back up and running shortly after 7 a.m.
