True to the title of her new podcast, Kylie Kelce continues to prove that she’s Not Gonna Lie. Kelce, wife of retired Philadelphia Eagles star-turned-ESPN personality Jason Kelce, sister-in-law of current Kansas City Chiefs star and Taylor Swift boyfriend Travis Kelce, made waves when the first episode of her new show knocked The Joe Rogan Experience out of the top slot of the podcast charts it had long occupied.
In an interview with the New York Times published Thursday, her first since the podcast premiered earlier this month, Kelce admitted that the annoyance her success stirred up with Rogan’s fans hasn’t gone unnoticed. “That’s getting me going,” she said, though she insisted, “I couldn’t care less about the charts.” Another big reveal: Her political views “aggressively lean” left, and her dream podcast guest is none other than former first lady Michelle Obama, who came up while discussing whether Kelce would consider interviewing politicians on the show. “I know she is not personally running,” she said of Obama. “But I would love it if she would.” She also mentioned being a fan of Gov. Josh Shapiro, of her home state of Pennsylvania, for stocking public school bathrooms with free period products.
Pregnant now with her fourth daughter with Jason, Kylie isn’t the only podcast host in their household. Jason co-hosts the popular New Heights with brother Travis, but Kylie has differentiated her show not only in content, focusing more on “mom stuff,” in her words, and sports topics that appeal more to casual fans and women’s sports aficionados, but length as well. She’s pledged to keep episodes to 45 minutes or less, “prioritizing the timeline of busy women.”
“I’m focused on putting out content that people like to consume,” she said of her quick success, and suggested another potential source of her appeal: “Maybe it’s the promise that you’re not going to get lied to.”
And, unsurprisingly for a woman who is about to welcome her fourth child, she’s just as no-nonsense about the idea that her ideas might piss people off.
“I mean this in the most respectful way,” she said. “I don’t care what other people have to say.”
