A woman caught her boyfriend in the act during a surprise visit to his office.
In a clip posted by @healthitess on TikTok, she walks into the office and greets her boyfriend. The moment he hears her voice, he immediately sits upright at his desk, quickly minimizes the window on his computer and swivels around to face her.
Startled by her presence, he asks, “What are you doing?” His girlfriend responds: “I brought you this,” showing him an item (which remains a mystery to viewers).
It turns out he wasn’t doing anything suspicious, but taking advantage of being away from prying eyes so he could find her the perfect gift for the holiday season. The text overlay reads: “When you surprise your bf at work but he’s Christmas shopping for you.”
Boyfriends scrambling to find the perfect gift for their partners is a common scenario this time of year. Research shows that men often face added pressure when shopping for significant others, with many waiting until the last minute.
A 2021 survey conducted by Finder found that 18 percent of men admit to procrastinating on holiday shopping, compared to 11 percent of women.
For many boyfriends, the stakes feel high when it comes to choosing the right gift for their partner too. A 2022 report from Giftcards.com found that 43 percent of people feel anxious about buying a present their significant other will truly love, with men more likely to cite this as a concern.
Since it was posted on December 6, the clip has clocked up over 340,000 views and over 35,000 likes. The comments section was flooded with sympathy for the boyfriend and commended him for his efforts.
“Busted!” one user wrote, while another said: “This is so cute, him clicking off the gift is so hilarious.”
A third wrote that he “wasn’t quick enough” and the original poster (OP) replied: “Slow motion in action.” The OP was also laughing at her boyfriend’s reaction and captioned the clip: “The panic” with a laugh-cry emoji.
Others pointed out that his reflexes could have been better, as another TikToker questioned why he moved so slowly.
Despite his slow reaction, it’s safe to assume he was determined to keep the holiday magic alive with a surprise gift for his girlfriend.
