Jim Carrey is open to reprising his role in a The Mask sequel but under one condition.
The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 star said in a recent interview that he would be down to revisit the character he played in the 1994 comedy.
“Oh gosh, you know, it has to be the right idea. If somebody had the right idea, I guess… It’s not really about the money,” Carrey told ComicBook. “I joke about the money… But I never know. You can’t be definite about these things.”
He continued, “I said I’d like to retire, but I think I was talking more about power-resting. Because as soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people that you really enjoyed working with and stuff, it just – things tend to change.”
In 2022, when the Bruce Almighty star was promoting the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog, he said he was retiring from acting.
“I’m being fairly serious,” he said in an interview to Access Hollywood at the time. “It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink, that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road. But I’m taking a break.”

When AP asked during the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 London premiere on December 10 about what he said in 2022, Carrey said, “That might have been hyperbole.”
