Hoda Kotb has officially “changed,” according to Jenna Bush Hager.
Bush Hager claimed that Kotb has turned a new leaf since retiring from Today. Kotb has been saying that she hopes to stay out later and sleep in more once she retires, and it looks like she’s making good on that promise. Bush Hager said Kotb stayed out much later than she expected at an industry party they recently attended together where they were joined by the likes of Gayle King, Willie Geist, Robin Roberts, and more.
“I didn’t believe it but she is 100% changed. She is walking around, she was talking to people — real conversations,” Bush Hager told Today viewers Wednesday (Dec. 11).
She then playfully added, “She kissed somebody under the mistletoe.” Kotb’s eyes widened as she laughed at Bush Hager’s joke.
“I’m just kidding, no she didn’t. No she didn’t. That would have been funny,” Bush Hager said as they shared a laugh over it.
But Bush Hager reportedly shared a kiss with someone at the party who wasn’t her husband. “I kissed Harry! That was me that did that,” she added. While her husband’s name is Henry, Harry is Bush Hager’s friend, not spouse.
Kotb side-eyed Bush Hager a bit as she noted, “You were really on Harry.”
Bush Hager then accused her co-host of trying to catch her saying something wrong on the air. “Harry’s my friend,” she told Kotb. “Don’t try and get a Page Six quote!”
“No I know, I’m not saying it like that,” Kotb replied.
Kotb recently “protected” Bush Hager “from herself” when Nobody Wants This actress Justine Lupe asked Bush Hager what her husband’s icks are on the air.
Bush Hager froze mid-answer, seemingly caught off guard by Lupe’s question. But Kotb swooped in to save her co-host. “Oh God, don’t, don’t, no, don’t,” she said. “Justine, what happens is it gets in Page Six and then she gets in trouble.”
They all shared a laugh at that as Kotb continued, “No, I’m protecting her from herself.”
