Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Cephus (née Almánzar), flaunts an expensive lifestyle, and she’s not afraid to admit it.
Cardi, 32, recently took to X (formerly known as twitter) Spaces to address her finances after fans speculated that she was struggling with money. On Tuesday, December 3, the rapper shared a series of audio clips where she addressed her fans’ claims and admitted that she spends “about $3 million in a month.”
In the audio clips, the rapper tells her doubters, “People say that I’m surviving off Shein deals and brand deals — wait hold on,” adding, “I want to let y’all know I could wake up tomorrow, sign a contract, and have half of $65 million — or half of $70 million – in my bank.”
Cardi also told her followers that the reason she takes the brand deals is not because “she’s starving” but because “it’s easy.” She added, “I’m not passing up $700,000 on f***ing videos that are gonna be up what? Like a week or two?”
The New York City native posted a picture of a text exchange she had in September along with the audio clips, where she was negotiating an alleged tour deal that would pay $1 million for every show, totaling around $65 million. The texts specify that Cardi would receive half the money upon signing the tour contract.
Despite having some enticing deals on the table, Cardi said, “I don’t want to take tour deals until I announce my album because when I announce my album I know they’re going to up it,” and later added, “You have to move smart. You can’t act hungry when you’re not.”
The notion that the “I Like It” rapper was going through a hard time financially sparked from a sponsored ad video she posted on Instagram on Wednesday, December 4, promoting Shein, the fast fashion brand. Her fans took to the comments section of the ad to express their suspicions.
The last project Cardi released was her debut album Invasion of Privacy in 2018, and her fans have been eagerly waiting for a follow-up ever since.
