Republicans Are Taking the Hunter Biden Pardon in Stride, If “Taking in Stride” Means Losing Their Minds Over It

Republicans, conservative pundits, and children of Donald Trump have responded to Joe Biden’s decision to pardon Hunter Biden in a manner anyone on the planet could have predicted: by throwing a massive shit fit.

Following the announcement from the White House that the president was issuing a sweeping pardon to his son, MAGA-world took to the internet to lose its collective mind, raging about the news like it had just learned Biden was going to use his last days in office to require that all GOP lawmakers undergo mandatory sex reassignment surgery.

“Joe Biden has lied from start to finish about his family’s corrupt influence peddling activities,” Representative James Comer, who led the House impeachment inquiry involving Hunter’s business dealings, wrote on X. “Not only has he falsely claimed that he never met with his son’s foreign business associates and that his son did nothing wrong, but he also lied when he said he would not pardon Hunter Biden.”

“Democrats said there was nothing to our impeachment inquiry,” said Representative Jim Jordan, who recently declared that the GOP is against political prosecutions. “If that’s the case, why did Joe Biden just issue Hunter Biden a pardon for the very things we were inquiring about?” Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed, “This pardon is Joe Biden’s admission that Hunter is a criminal.” Eric Trump wrote: “Don’t worry about the 112 subpoenas I have received over the past 8 years.” Donald Trump Jr. opined, “Everyone knew he was going to do it. He was just going to do it when it was if no consequence to democrat electability.” White House doctor turned Texas representative Ronny Jackson raged: “Today, Biden’s CRACKHEAD SON received a FULL and UNCONDITIONAL PARDON despite a promise that there would be no such thing. Biden and his admin are DISGRACEFUL LIARS!!”

It’s true that Biden previously said that he would not pardon his son. It’s also true that Donald Trump has lied on too many occasions to count, and his GOP supporters have never had a problem with that. (They also did not take issue with his pardoning of a family member, whom he later tapped for a coveted ambassadorship.)

Trump vowed on the campaign trail to prosecute the Biden family, writing on Truth Social: “I WILL APPOINT A REAL SPECIAL ‘PROSECUTOR’ TO GO AFTER THE MOST CORRUPT PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE USA, JOE BIDEN, THE ENTIRE BIDEN CRIME FAMILY, & ALL OTHERS INVOLVED WITH THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR ELECTIONS, BORDERS, & COUNTRY ITSELF!”
