Kelly Ripa was the brunt of the joke on a family FaceTime call.
She and Mark Consuelos returned from the holiday weekend on Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday, where they shared that after their children went to their respective homes the night before, they all got back on the phone for a FaceTime.
“We got together, we had this weekend together, and then everybody went home last night,” he recalled. “And then there was a group FaceTime for like an hour. The kids called back… they missed being together.”
While both co-hosts agreed that the call “was super fun,” Ripa claimed that they “make fun of [her] the whole time.”
“First of all, I was in bed,” she explained. “So I have my retainer in, and I’ve got my moisturizer on. So yes, I look like an alien being from another planet. But I’m in bed, and you FaceTimed me!”
After being “pull[ed] into the conversation,” Ripa said she was “relentlessly” teased for her lisp caused by her retainer.
Consuelos insisted that she had to “set the scene,” noting that “there’s a lot going on.”
“You got this pillow, you got this little pretzel thing behind your neck,” he added. “I know your neck’s hurt.”
Ripa replied, “But it sounds like you are making fun of me!”
Consuelos, who was also on the video call, acknowledged their kids’ “vantage point,” and proceeded to poke fun at his wife.
“Mark’s on the video call, by the way, next to me, to be clear,” Ripa highlighted.
Meanwhile, Consuelos said he “was moving around” during the call.
“I was in the bathroom, I was in the closet, I had my nose thing, my mouth thing on… We’re a freak show,” he quipped. “We are essentially a freak show.”
Ripa then proposed that she post the screenshots she took from the call.
“Maybe I’ll show them on my social media later today so you can see which one of us looks more like a freak show,” she continued. “However, I was the one being relentlessly made fun of. Not the man with his nose thing on and his mouth taped shut.”
