President-elect Donald Trump criticized “Radical Left Lunatics” for having “worked so hard to destroy our Country” in his “Happy Thanksgiving” post on Truth Social.
Trump made the post at 12:53 a.m. EST on Thursday, using the holiday message to taunt his political opponents, to celebrate his election victory, and to promise he would improve the condition of the country.
“Happy Thanksgiving to all including to the Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country, but who have miserably failed, and will always fail, because their ideas and policies are so hopelessly bad that the great people of our Nation just gave a landslide victory to those who want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote.
“Don’t worry, our Country will soon be respected, productive, fair, and strong, and you will be, more than ever before, proud to be an American!”
Since winning the election on November 5, Trump has been working on the presidential transition which has included a meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House, calls to world leaders, and announcing who will serve in his cabinet.
Some of his central campaign promises are to bring down inflation and costs, to deport millions of illegal and undocumented immigrants, to negotiate the end of the Russia-Ukraine war in one day, and to end “woke” policies in the federal government and military.
Newsweek has contacted Trump’s transition team via email for comment.
It’s not the first time Trump has taken aim at his political opposition using a Thanksgiving message.
In 2023, Trump used his holiday message to criticize New York Attorney General Letitia James, who had led the fraud prosecution against him. Judge Arthur Engoron would later order Trump to pay $350 million in penalties and ban him from doing business in New York for three years.
Trump took aim at both in his Thanksgiving post, writing: “Happy Thanksgiving to ALL, including the Racist & Incompetent Attorney General of New York State, Letitia ‘Peekaboo’ James, who has let Murder & Violent Crime FLOURISH, & Businesses FLEE; the Radical Left Trump Hating Judge, a ‘Psycho,’ Arthur Engoron, who Criminally Defrauded the State of New York, & ME, by purposely Valuing my Assets at a ‘tiny’ Fraction of what they are really worth in order to convict me of Fraud before even a Trial, or seeing any PROOF, & used his Politically Biased & Corrupt Campaign Finance Violator, Chief Clerk Alison Greenfield, to sit by his side on the ‘Bench’ & tell him what to do; & Crooked Joe Biden, who has WEAPONIZED his Department of Injustice against his Political Opponent, & allowed our Country to go to HELL; & all of the other Radical Left Lunatics, Communists, Fascists, Marxists, Democrats, & RINOS, who are seriously looking to DESTROY OUR COUNTRY. Have no fear, however, we will WIN the Presidential Election of 2024, & MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
